5 Biggest Outsourcing Fears

Since starting my business, I have come across the same outsourcing fears and objections from people who have been told they should outsource. Sometimes they just have the one, sometimes they have more.

It’s time for me to help you overcome those fears by handling some of the most common objections one by one.

Let’s go!

It’s too expensive

At first glance it may seem like paying for a VA might be outside of your budget. But think about the time you can regain. If you reinvest that time back into your business, chances are you will still be in the black even after you have paid for your VA.

Another financial objection is that the hourly rate of a VA is more than that of an employee – and you’d be right. However, once you take into consideration the ‘hidden’ costs of hiring an employee from the time taken to advertise, interview and onboard to the benefits, office space and equipment. And then there’s the tax, NI, sick pay etc.

Not looking quite so expensive now, is it?

I’m the only person who can do the job

You’re not though, are you? Unless of course, it’s something you have trained your whole life for – and I can say, hand on heart, that admin and business support do not come under this banner. When looking for a VA ask about their skills, background and the programs and software they use regularly as well as the tasks they undertake. By finding the right person, you can hand over tasks safe in the knowledge they know what they are doing. Sometimes they may even be able to advise on a more efficient, better, or cheaper way to do something.

It’s quicker for me to do the job myself

Initially, this may be the case for some tasks but VAs are experienced at what they do and will require minimal guidance. They may require some explanation of your way of working, but if you have systems and processes in place then this should be as simple as giving them access to your library.

Another thing to consider is that although it may be quicker to do it yourself, is that really the best use of your time. My guess is probably not!

How will I know what you’re doing?

You’re based in London, I’m based in Leeds – how will you know what I’m doing? Firstly, if I was an employee would you be watching me work.

Hopefully not – not least because that’s just a bit weird – but also because there is an element of trust involved.

Working with a VA is the same. Plus I use software to track and manage my time and projects and keep in touch regularly by phone and Zoom so you’ll always know what I’m working on. I can also provide details of the time I’ve spent each month.

I like being in control

I’m totally with you on this as I’m a bit of a control freak myself. You have worked hard to get where you are today and the prospect of bringing in someone else is daunting.

There is no need to worry. You will still be in control of your business; probably more so than before, as you will have more time to review your goals and plan for the future. You will still be in the driving seat. But, instead of getting lost in a sea of paperwork, I’ll be there to help you navigate the situation.

Hopefully, this post may help to overcome some of the objections and outsourcing fears you may have.

If you have any additional fears or concerns about outsourcing, then get in touch and let’s eliminate those too.
